Vancouver 2010 Travel Information
It is not too early to begin thinking about planning your trip to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. Although direct ticket sales for events will not be available until late next year, many major tour operators are already gearing up to offer Winter Games travel packages. Packages are likely to including tickets, accommodation and flights, some will also include transportation to and from the events.
If you are going to book a package through a tour operator ensure that you choose an established and respectable company.
The events schedule is expected to be released in early 2008, while tickets won't go on general sale until the Autumn. If you are planning your trip yourself, please bear in mind that hotels will not start taking reservations until the events schedule is released, but many are allowing travellers to register their interest. If you want to be close to the action, we would recommend you register your interest with the hotel of your choice now.
You might also find it useful to register your interest with CoSport, the official ticket supplier for the Games, their online registration form allows you to specify the types of accommodation and travel packages you might be interested in, so that the information can be sent on to you once it becomes available.
As always, expect the hotels and accommodations closet to the Olympic Villages to be the most expensive, and the first to be fully-booked. Fortunately the area around Whistler is already well provided for accommodation due to its popularity as a ski resort, but the sheer weight of demand for places during the Games will undoubtable see every hotel and chalet filled long before the torch is lit.
